Overview
As with HGVs, Coaches are often on the road for days at a time and must power many items of on board equipment such as on board toilets, air conditioning and communication devices. Buses, or PSVs, require a power source suited to shorter Start/Stop, multi pick up journeys.
For both applications, the battery needs to be able to withstand extreme discharge and recharge regimes, meaning; Reliability, Starting Power, Durability and Premium Performance are required. APUs (Auxiliary Power Units) & HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) systems that place strain on the batteries are as follows:

Buses - Electrical Drain Items
- Ticket machines
- Bus tilt systems (to level with pavement)
- Heating Systems
- Lighting Systems
- ‘Stop’ communication systems (bells)
- Start/Stop engine technology (AGM batteries)
- Safety Equipment
Coaches – Electrical Drain Items
- GPS systems
- Coffee machines/refrigeration units
- Safety Equipment
- Wash room/toilet pumps
- Air conditioning
- On-board Wi-Fi network
- TV; including satellite & media consoles
